Our school based fundraising committee (KHA) were busy before Christmas fundraising for three charities: St. Vincent de Paul, Carlow Hospitality Food Kitchen and our school charity KHA which help poor people in Kenya.
On 1st December we held a Christmas Fair in the school hall. We sold Christmas logs, handmade bracelets, jewellery, cakes, buns, brick a brac and we had a bottle stall. It was a great day and the KHA choir sang. Parents enjoyed coming in and had a cup of tea.
The KHA choir had being practicing for weeks before Christmas and they sang in The Arboretum, in Carlow Shopping centre and before Christmas Eve mass in Ballon.
We raised the following: Singing in the Arboretum – €358.00, Carlow Shopping Centre – €320.00, Christmas eve mass – €439.00, Christmas Fair – €1,563.00 and donations €415.00. Total raised was €3,095.00.
Last Friday 2nd February we made a presentation of a cheque to St. Vincent de Paul, our local Tullow branch. Trish O’Byrne president of the branch came to the school and we presented her with a cheque for €1,100.00. Trish told the children how the money will be used and thanked everybody for their hard work raising so much money.
Also on Friday Fr. John Dunphy came to our school and we presented Fr. Dunphy with a cheque for €700.00 for Carlow Hospitality Food Kitchen in Carlow. He thanked all the children for their work and everybody who supported the different events over Christmas.
A cheque for €1.295.00 is being sent to the mission in Kenya where it will be used to support the poor.
