Easter Egg Hunt – Thursday 6th April
Easter egg hunt for Junior and Senior Infants and the Resource room – An easter egg hunt will be held on the morning of 6th April for Junior and Senior Infants and the resource room. The kids always look forward to it and have so much fun searching for eggs.
Coffee Morning in Siopa Glas – Saturday 6th May
On Saturday May 6th the Parents Association will be holding a coffee morning in Siopa Glas to raise much needed funds for the school. On the day there will be lots of cakes, buns and biscuits on sale along with coffee and tea and dilute drink for the kids.
Please come along and support…volunteers to help run the coffee morning and bakers will also be required.
Ballon NS First Communion – 13th May
The Parents Association will be hosting an after party for the children making their First Communion in the community Centre. Parents of third class children are asked to help out where possible to make this popular event a huge success.
Summer Fete – Friday 26th May
This years summer fete will be held on Friday 26th May. It is early this year due to the June bank holiday weekend and the community games and Feile already organised for the remaining weeks in June…which has meant the school fete has had to be pulled back to the last Friday in May.
The summer fete is always a fun event with lots of stalls, food, bouncy castles and attractions to entertain everybody. This years will be no exception.

Bag Pack in Supervalu – 22nd/23rd September
A bag pack has been organised for Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd September. This was the earliest date available and will actually fall into the next school year.
This fundraising event is a great way to make and raise money for the school …..and by parents donating a couple of hours on either day…to assist…it is a very worthwhile fundraising activity.
Details will be posted later on in the year.
Monday February 6th 2017 – Mental Health Talk by Niall O Muiri
Organised by the Parents Association
Children in sixth class will receive a talk on mental health. The talk will introduce them to the term “mental health” – what it is, what it is to have good mental health and not to be afraid to ask for help if you are struggling with everyday life. Subjects like bullying and looking out for one another will be discussed.
The talk will be given by Niall O Muiri, a registered psychiatric nurse with 35 years working in the Mental Health Services. Niall gives talks on mental health awareness to community groups and schools.
Swimming Guidelines for Supervisors
Swimming commenced for the second term on Monday 16th January for 10 weeks. Below is a list of instructions that all parent supervisors are required to follow. copies are available from Nuala in the school office.
important: Please also note that supervisors/ teachers are unable to assist children in dressing and undressing and are not allowed in the changing rooms when the children are getting dressed and undressed. If any parent has a child who cannot undress or dress himself/herself fully then a parent or guardian is required to attend the swimming pool at 2.45pm to assist them. Thankyou
